Born in France as Bruno Garcia, the Sargento creates after an expedition to guitar music his own specific style of music: Salsamuffin a fresh and innovative mixture of Salsa, Reggae and Hip-Hop; funky African and Jamaican beats and melodies.
Neither in his music nor on stage he denies his Spanish roots. He ventures the musical crossover between the Caribbean and Europe, Africa and South America.
After the worldwide success CD's like Un Poquito Quemao (1999) and La Semilla Escondida (2003) and a greatest hits album, Sergent Garcia is back with his new CD Mascaras that was recorded in Mexixo with Toy Hernandez, one of the most prominent contemporary producers in the world of Latin music. It combines acoustic instruments and traditional styles, particularly cumbia, with electronic riddims. Mascaras is a festive cross-section of some of the sounds that make our planet rock, bringing together the streets of Mexico, Barranquilla, Los Angeles, Kingston, Lagos, Paris and Valencia.
On stage Garcia and his band Colectivo Iye Ife show a powerful performance with groovy beats, funky basses and a immense portion of salsa.
