RetroVISOR is a musical project that blends rock, electronic rhythms, Latin beats and elements from Colombian music. One of the main interests is the setting of Visuals controlled in real time and special UV lights, that create an atmosphere, so the music is not only heard but also seen.
Formed in Bogota during 2004, retroVISOR released in 2007 independently and self produced, their first work entitled Amazonas S.O.S., which has been catalogued by specialized publications such as Rolling Stone Latin America, as one of the 50 Best albums published during that year, Semana magazine listed their work in the10 best Colombian recordings published in 2007, and Radionica (largest independent Colombian radio station) also voted them as best Electronic/Rock Colombian artist, because of their live act (music, visuals and staging), Carmen has also been voted as best Colombian Vj.
retroViSOR has played several venues, across Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and Europe, such as FESTIVAL IBEROAMERICANO DE TEATRO - Bogota, CARTAGENA FILM FESTIVAL, Cartagena - Colombia, Teatro Colon Bogota, ROCK AL PARQUE Bogota (biggest South American open air rock festival). They've also been opening acts for artists such as Nortec Collective and Bajo Fondo Tango Club. In 2006 they played in Buenos Aires; in 2007 they toured the Netherlands. They were also voted by Colombian Magazine "Shock" as Best New Alternative artist.
In 2008 they were invited to play in LA FETE DE LA MUSIQUE Colombia; in November 2008, World Music Network - London, published "La Mecanica", in the compilation: "Rough guide to Colombian street party". In 2009 they participated in FESTIVAL OLLIN KAN in Mexico, a renowned festival of new sounds and world music; In July 2009 retroVISOR" performed in Amsterdam in "Sugar Factory" and in the groove stage from SFINKS FESTIVAL in Belgium, where 'La Mecanica was selected as background song for a promotional video clip of the festival. This year retroVISOR performed in HAUS DER KULTUREN DER WELT - Berlin in the Wassermusik Festival.
