For Womex 2003, Latin World and musicyoufind.com are presenting a showcase of Guaco, la superbanda de Venezuela. Formed in 1960, this 18-piece band has released 37 albums (thirteen of them gold,) and plays an authentic afro-Caribbean rhythm influenced by funk, jazz and rock. Having recently toured Europe with much success, Guaco is an increasingly on-demand act.

Other acts available for tour in 2004 are:

Spam Allstars: Latin Grammy Nominee sextet based in Miami, brings to the club scene the real sound of Miami's calle ocho electronica. Fronted by Brit-Venezuelan Dj Le Spam with saxophone, trombone, guitar and Latin percussion. With 4 releases to date, the band plays weekly sessions in clubs in South Beach, as well as a monthly session at New York's SOB's.

Bacalao Men: Caracas-based sextet plays Afro-Latin dub/trip-hop. Live guitar, bass, drums, Latin percussion, sax, scratchings and samples; this band is the sound of Caracas 2010.

Cuarto Poder: Caracas based hip-hop crew. Not the usual Cuban-Montuno beat based rap. This crew is been working for 3 years on beats based on Afro-Venezuelan rhythms, samples of Venezuelan cuatro and harps, mixed with the usual MC work and sounds of the streets of Caracas.... backed up by a multitalented Dj that plays guitar, samples and scratchings....

Francisco Pacheco y Su Pueblo: A Venezuelan icon for more than 20 years, Francisco Pacheco is an outstanding traditional Afro-Venezuelan singer and composer. He was the founder of the seminal Afro-Venezuelan music institution, Un Solo Pueblo. Backed up by a 12 piece band with horns and Afro-Venezuelan drums, Pacheco plays a range of Parrandas, Calypsos and Ritmos de la Costa Central (rhythms of the Caribbean coast of Venezuela). This is a face of carnival not seen before!

Dj Chirri: London based musician and anthropologist with an extensive collection

of traditional and eclectic new music, the Dj set explotes essential rythms found in the fields and selected for the dance floor. Broken beat, latin house and rare grooves are mixed up with live sax, latin percussion and samplers and fx's. Previous performances includes Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Amsterdam Roots Festival, Sounds of the City festival in Newark-NJ and club nights in Notting Hill Arts Club and Tongue and Groove in London, and special guest at SOB's club in New York.
