Since the beginning in 1996, New Tango Orquesta have, on five albums and a countless number of international tours up to now, with the composer Per Stoerby as a leader, explored and developed the concept of "nuevo tango". With their unique mix of baroque music, tango, free improvisation, minimalism and romantique, they have gained territory all over the world with their special sound. Their focused performances are a complete acoustic, dynamic, and musically masterpiec one should never miss.

Swedish New Tango Orquesta have released five albums: "The New Tango Orquesta" 1998, "Part II" 2000, the swedish Grammy nominated "Bestiario" 2005, "The Kiev Concert" 2009 and the recently released "Vesper" in September 2009. They have made lots of music for movies and tv-series, "The return of the dancing teacher" (Henning Mankell) and "Sketches of Frank Gehry" (Sidney Pollack) among others. They have made music for several dance- and theatre plays. They have toured all over the world, done performances on rock venues in Moscow, tango venues in Buenos Aires, jazz clubs in Istanbul and concert halls in Beijing.
Per Stoerby, who is the musical motor in New Tango Orquesta as composer and artistic leader, have started with the chamber music and developed a unique mix of fugues, counterpoint, improvisation, dynamic, minimalism and barouque music. The very newest music investigates, even more far-reaching, all possibilities in the ensemble's acoustic sound palette, with more accent on the art- and chamber music than before.
THE KIEV CONCERT (Hoob Records 2009)
In a crowded auditorium in the powerful concert hall October Palace in Kiev/Ukraine, New Tango Orquesta made one of their most intense and magic concerts during 2008. The performance was recorded by Victor Ovchinnikov, and was never really made for more than just a recording, but the thought of releasing The Kiev Concert as a proper album grew when it seemed to convey exactly that electricity which appeared under those cut-glass chandeliers.
VESPER (Hoob Records 2009)
Some wonderful and beautiful ice cold days in February, New Tango Orquesta headed, together with a chef, to the small town Forsvik in the middle of Sweden, close to Goeta Kanal's floodgates in Vaettern. An old house from 1904, in the shape of a public house in miniature, was re-built to a temporary recording studio; the parquet floor was filled with carpets and sound-absorbing blankets was hanged up on the walls. The short walk on the creaking snow back and forth from there to the hostel at the factory in Forsvik, were the only movements the band did during this week. That's how Vesper was made, hidden from the world in a sort of bubble of concentration, occurred there out in the woods.
