Jaka

He is a Sicilian doc, but he lives in Florence, is one of the pioneers of Italian “upbeat” music.
He is a globetrotter for vocation, during years he performed in the most important Italian reggae festival until to perform in the most prestigious stages in the world as in Kingston, New York, London, Paris, Kiev, Barcelona..
an extraordinary live energy made him one of the most successful reggae singer and performer of Italy.
During his career he earned the esteem and respect of international artists as Alton Ellis, Max Romeo, Morgan Heritage, Michael Franti, Luciano, Eek a Mouse, Sergent Garcia, Mad Professor.. they invited him to sing with them during their performance.
Over the years, with Michelangelo Buonarroti Band, he opened the Italian tour of Capleton, Buju Banton e Shaggy.
In the last season he perfomed as special guest in the concerts of Alborosie (Festival Gusto Dopa al Sole), Dub-Fx (Teatro Romano), 99Posse(Villaggio Globale), Africa Unite (Rototom Reggae Sunsplash).
During years Jaka signed pages of the Italian reggae history beginning with the EP “Della Parola Armati” (dated 1992) and then “Memorabile” – “Love to The People” – “Mettiamo a Fuoco” – “Spiritual R-Evolution” – “Forza Originaria”. He published his music with majors as Universal, Wea, Virgin and with prestigious labels as Alternative, Flyng, One Love, Jahmeyka, Macrobeats and with his personal young label Jaka Lion Records.
Some of his songs as “Ragga Soldati” – “GanJah & Tè Bancha” – “Reggae a Matina” – “A Erice” have become the soundtrack of more than one generation and his productions always attract new fans.
In his album many guest sang as Luciano, Macka B, Sud Sound System, Africa Unite, Roy Paci, Seed, Brusco, Mama Marjas…
In 2014 his 6th official album “INVINCIBLE SOUL” is released produced by Jaka Lion Records with Audioglobe distribution.
Among his many performances on the main stage of Rototom Reggae Sunsplash, in front of ten of thousand people, in 2007 a jury composed by the most important European organizers awarded him the Italian Reggae Award for best artist and performer.
In parallel of his singer’s activity he is, for over 20 years, conductor of Bongoman (historical program of the Florentine station Controradio) in addiction being one of the djes of Popolare Network broadcasted every year Rototom Sunsplash (which for many years was also the official entertainer and MC on the Main Stage to introduce energy with its world-famous artists).
Jaka is also resident dj of Auditorium Flog of Florence where he is creator and artistic co-director of “Vibranite – il tempio del Reggae”. It’s the event that hosted the largest number of concerts of Jamaican artist in Italy.
His show, live or dancehall, is one of the best reggae show in the Italian musical panorama.
