You find the dance and percussion band 'Mama Africa´ "le village", founded in 1987 in Dakar Senegal, among the most glittering West-African bands in Germany. The repertoire of the 9 African band members, composed of percussionists, dancers, acrobats and singers, is based on exploding rhythms of the Sabar and the Djembe, combined with succinct phrases of the Tama-drums and harmonic sounds of Balaphon and Kora.
The artists, true masters of their instruments, have committed themselves to the rich and varied tradition of West-Africa. They perform regularly in Germany and other European cities. While the audience is raving about their unique performances, Mama Africa never forgets their mission: the encouragement of respect and understanding between the cultures in the world.
