Te Matarae I Orehu hails from the shores of Lake Rotoiti and takes its name from the sacred headland of Orehu.
In 2000 Te Matarae I Orehu won the top award at the Aotearoa Maori Performing Arts Society Festival.
All songs except Patere Rarau were composed by Wetini Mitai-Ngatai and are dedicated to all those tupuna (ancestors) whose stories have been the inspiration behind the compositions.
