Addys Mercedes
new cuban son
Lady sings the Son? Yes, she does. But her music is more deep and touching than the stereotype of Cuba. There are more twists and turns, more corners and edges. Namely corners, in which you really long to remain. "En Casa de Addys" Cuban singer Addys Mercedes' musical house is welcoming and thrilling.
"Walk in, it's open" one song with cumbia-reggae-vibes shouts lively from her kitchen, while a velvet-voiced ballad whispers seductively from the room by the fireplace: "Come to me, I am waiting here for you." One could linger for hours with only one of these songs of love and other longings however, her full-blooded music makes it worth your while to roam through Addys' house leisurely from song to song and room to room ... from spontaneous joy to deep, astonishing dreams.
Addys grew up in in rural Guantanamo, the easternmost province of Cuba. As a little girl she loved to listen to her singing father sitting under a tree. With her mother she argued loving about the dream to go to Hollywood sitting in the kitchen. Living today in Germany, she loves to listen to her daughter Lia playing the violin onstage with "En Casa de Addys". Whether you enjoy Addys' songs quietly in a small theatre or dance wildly in front of a festival stage at the end you will say: Encore, I want more
