Alexandre de Siqueira e Silva was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 1972, into a family of two generations of musicians. Something of a child prodigy, at just five years old, he taught himself to play the guitar, and at the tender age of thirteen, after studying classical guitar with Henrique Pinto and electric guitar with Mozart Mello, as well as composition and conducting, he produced his first record (one of his father's).
Ale studied at Sao Paulo's Instituto de Audio y Video. Bachelor in Composition and Conducting at the Universidade Estadual Paulista and soon after became the youngest teacher at Sao Paulo University, Santa Marcelina, teaching Studio Technology and Production. Around that time he also made various experimental recordings, including a number of electro-acoustic creations.
Being an important figure in the development of new-wave Brazilian digital music, combined with his sensitivity towards Brazilian roots music, put Ale in a position of great demand from an early age. He has produced numerous artists of note, including Elza Soares, Tom Ze, Arnaldo Antunes, Carlinhos Brown, Marisa Monte, Tribalistas, Margareth Menezes, Lenine, Jose Miguel Wisnik, Zeca Baleiro, Chico Cesar, Caetano Veloso, Bebel Gilberto, Paulinho da Viola, Joao Donato, Funk Como Le Gusta, Dj Dero, Grupo Corpo, Timbalada, Daniela Mercury, Leila Pinheiro, Cheikh Lo, Omara Portuondo, Chico Buarque, Yusa, Jorge Drexler, among others.
In 2003 Ale won a Latin Grammy as co-producer on the hugely popular Tribalistas album, which featured Carlinhos Brown, Marisa Monte and Arnaldo Antunes, and in 2004 won the second Latin Grammy with the album "Carlinhos Brown es Carlito Marron" in the category of "Best Brazilian Contemporary Pop Album".
Omara Portuondo's album "Flor de Amor" produced by Ale was also the winner of the Billboard Latin Music Awards in its 16th edition in 2005.
In 2007 Ale was selected to be the Musical Director of the XV edition of the Pan-American Games and the III edition of the Parapan-American Rio 2007 , being the only responsible on the creation of all the music for the ceremonies.
In 2008 the Opening Ceremony of the Pan American Games Rio 2007 has just won six Telly Awards, which was founded in 1978, in the United States, to promote visual arts inspiration and creativity. Rio 2007 won the silver statuette of the Live TV Broadcast Events, TV Sport Events and Sport Video categories. The opening ceremony was also awarded the bronze statuette granted to TV Entertainment, Video Entertainment and Live Event Video categories. Last year Rio 2007 opening ceremony had already received the SportBusiness ISEMS (International Sports Event Management and Security) award as the best sporting event ceremony in the last 18 months.
