Multi-Instrumentalist Nir Motzeri’s debut album, “To Make Her Happy,” features twelve instrumental compositions written during the musical journeys that defined his early career. The compositions display a mature synthesis of a diverse range of musical influences yet, the magic resides in Nir’s preservation of the full wonder, excitement and passion of youthful curiosity. Weaving sounds from the Levant, Arabia, North Africa, India, Eastern Europe, Ireland and the Americas, Nir brings uncommon ingenuity and depth to his brand of world fusion.
Composing on violin, Greek and Irish bouzouki, mandolin, Algerian banjo, bansuri flutes, oud and Turkish clarinet, Nir creates an epic and expansive diversity of sound. In "To Make Her Happy," he explores the ability of pure, wordless music to connect people to the place where the love of 'the journey that is life' is most deeply felt. The disc has been described as a modern innovation on the traditional Jewish niggun, music that awakens and elevates our innermost desire for deep joy, connection and celebration.
