Brum is a collective of musicians and bands that believe Birmingham has a unique mix in a cultural climate that would benefit from unification through music and arts. We are tapping into the ingredients available within this musical city to create positive partnerships with key organizations such as Birmingham Conservatoire, City Council and The Arts Council and other independent arts organizations and venues with the aim to raise the cultural profile of Birmingham.

Mission statement

There is the sentiment that local events organizers and venue owners should prioritise the promotion of local live talent over extraneous talent, thus taking responsibility for the poor economy (both cultural and financial) that Birmingham’s musicians currently exist in.
We aim to improve the working conditions of professional musicians in Birmingham by lobbying for:

- More live music venues.
- Increased programming of local talent.
- Fair wages.
- Raising the professional standard of events, event organizers and promoters.

To encourage stakeholders to consult and involve professional musicians in decision making and planning/organizing of public cultural events involving musical performance

To encourage international musical exchanges to reinforce import and export by creating partnerships with similar musical organizations internationally.

Birmingham has always had rich and diverse influences, with a steady stream of immigrants from all over the planet. There are now approximately 65 different nationalities residing within this city. We aim to break down social and cultural barriers by:

- Creating collaborations between musicians from different communities. .
- Diverse programming of events, encouraging cultural integration through subsequent mixed audience attendance.
- Encouraging cross-pollination of genres and musical traditions, thus creating a fertile environment for new hybrid forms without homogenisation.
