Peter Rantasa, born in 1964 in Vienna/Austria, currently serves as Executive Director of mica - music austria.
He is a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO's International Music Council (IMC). Among his honorary duties he acts as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Music Office (EMO), and as Executive Director of the World Culture Forum Alliance. Until Sept. 2004, he also acted as Secretary General of the International Association of Music Information Centres (IAMIC). He is a Lecturer at the Institute of Culture Management and Culture Studies at the Vienna University for Music and Performing Arts.
Education in Communications Engineering, Electronic and Biomedical Engineering, as well as in Electro Acoustics and Experimental Music.
Rantasa founded and curated a number of music festivals in Austria and is founding partner of the Viennese platform for electronic music "Rhiz -Bar Modern." As a sound artist he created award winning performances and installations in the context of international festivals and museum exhibitions. He designed and coordinated various EU funded projects in the field of music. Rantasa acts frequently as jury member in the cultural domain. He is the initiator of the fair music campaign.
