what's new in world music?Saphrane: new label by Music & Words
In 2007 Music & Words started its new label Saphrane. The label is a cooperation with Gustavo Pazos from NPS Radio, the Netherlands, and Laurens van der Heijden, formerly NPS, now progammer.
Saphrane will release world. jazz and classical music and the interesting fusions between these genres. Most recordings will be (semi) live, as emotion in music will express itself better this way.
All releases will have a recognisable packaging to make it stand out amongst the crowd. The first release was Pablo Ziegler & Quique Sinesi with Walter Castro. They were recorded live in the BIM Huis in Amsterdam. This tango nuevo release with jazz crossover is a great start for the label. The second album was 'Song'by South African jazz singer Tutu Puoane, an upcoming star in her new motherland Belgium.
