She is one of the most beautiful voices of her generation. Her music and voice are rich and carry a great sonority. It starts from a traditional base, grows graciously and creates a contemporaneous, sometimes a jazzy atmosphere. Her second album, "À Porta do Mundo" has been awarded this year the José Afonso Prize (the most important award for popular / traditional music in Portugal) as the best album of 2003.
Last September she released the album "Estrela" with the guitarist José Peixoto (Madredeus) - universal music with a Mediterranean flavour.
Filipa Pais´music is a perfect example what modern Portuguese popular music can be when it combines the best of the local identity: traditional song lines, poetic lyrics, good melodies and arrangements with a clear voice that flies over the space.
