With his roots in the city of Belfast, a chilhood spent in the north of England and his home currently in Berlin, Bartley feels in his own words “half at home everywhere but not really at home, anywhere”. Indeed, after graduating in theology in 1988, he wandered from the ‘straight and narrow’ to spend several years performing on the streets and trains around Europe. Over the last decade he’s swapped the streets, strada and calles to share club, festival and theatre stages with the likes of Billy Bragg, Tindersticks, Robyn Hitchcock and Vic Chestnutt. Aidan has performed in UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Holland, Scandanavia and the U.S.A and in December 2005, Bartley undertook his first ever tour of Australia.
