Imagine a single record label with a repertoire so vast that it could stock an entire CD store. That's exactly what Naxos has done for the realm of classical music. And now, Naxos World - their world music imprint - is ready to tackle the World Music section.



Rather than replicate titles that are already on the market, Naxos World will seek out genres and regions that are underrepresented at retail, whether they be traditional, popular with the youth of a particular culture, or otherwise unknown. The release schedule for 2003 includes Icelandic Rimur, Swahili Rumba from Kenya, Chinese Pipa, Russian songwriter tradition, and Diwan from Morocco, among many other recordings.



Naxos World will release 12 titles in 2003, and has plans to be able to stock an entire world music section with representative recordings from all corners of the globe.
