Alan Holt is the Export Coordinator for the Outward Sound office of the New Zealand Music Commission. The New Zealand Commission is a Government-funded agency committed to supporting NZ music businesses. The Outward Sound office undertakes projects and partnerships aimed at exporting NZ music and assisting music businesses in working internationally.
Prior to joining the New Zealand Music Commission Alan was the General Manager and main buyer for Global Routes Distribution, owner of two clothing stores – Bunny Boutique and the New Zealand branch of the Beastie Boys affiliated street-wear label X-Large – and for the much of the 90’s, worked at the world renown independent label Flying Nun Records where his roles included import, export and production managing.
In his spare time Alan is a freelance writer with a column on the flicks.co.nz website, is writing a book about the history of Flying Nun Records, and performs as one half of experimental rock duo White Saucer.
