The first appearance of Ricardo Imperatore in the musical scenario, Rio de Janeiro, was as drummer and co-founder of the Band Bel, in 1984. The band used to drink at samba and rock fountains. The mix was explosive at the dancefloors.&1113088;It sounded like a powerful samba groovy machine. Much ahead of it's own time they were at the scene for 10 years, until 1994.
After the band Imperatore dived into a solo carrer as a drummer/percussionist. From 1995 to 2000 he colaborated or toured with artists such as, Natalie Cole, Susan Vega, Man At Work, Midnight Oil, Marisa Monte, Titas, Tom Capone, Monobloco, Ivo Meirelles, Cassiano among others.
From 2001 Imperatore started the solo project, boTECOeletro. Brazilian music is the focus. Folk, erudit, pop, roots. Imperatore, goes where he can find that music, and use it as the source to produce his own work. In two years of research, the musician Imperatore joined all these elements together to create boTECOeletro. Composed and produced by him the album boTECOeletro, his first solo, was elected the best electronic album in Brazil at 2005 during the TIM Music Awards 2005 (brazilian Grammy). "Brazilianity" is the basic concept of the record " says him.
"Botecoeletro made a strong impression on me since I heard it for the first time. I'm glad everybody will be able to listen to it." Marisa Monte
With this first album Imperatore toured Europe, US, Latin America and Africa. New York, London, Paris, Berlin, Hamburg, Barcelone, Vienna, Torino, Bologna, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Porto, Copenhagen, Liechtenstein, Antwerp, Reunion Islands, Mexico City, La Paz, Rio, Sao Paolo and others.
Imperatore is now involved with his second solo album, boTECOeletro Volume 2. It's fresh and it's already out there. Released in january 2013 it comes with the same concept: Brazil as source. The world as aim. Great performance in Rock'n'Rio 2013.
