The long-awaited solo debut from Dolores Solá, the lead singer of the groundbreaking Argentinian tango band La Chicana, has arrived. For her first solo effort, the veteran singer has decided to fully delve into the catalog of three true tango legends: Carlos Gardel, Agustín Magaldi, and Ignacio Corsini. Despite what you would expect, the disc offers much more than tangos. In fact, Salto Mortal includes compositions and variations that range from the true tango to the fox trot, the pasodoble, the waltz and even the traditional Portuguese fado. Through this union of genres, Dolores Solá recreates the Buenos Aires of the past, the Belle Epoque of the city, if you will. The result is a bold disc, ground-breaking and above all moving.
