Vocal artist, Victoria Hanna from Jerusalem, resources the ancient Hebrew sacred texts, explores its mystical nature in relation to contemporary modes of communication and symbols related to the transcendental aspects of voice, text, and spatial perception, revealing an astonishing vocal range and timbre.
Victoria Hanna was born into a very spiritual, religious community in Jerusalem, in which the language and elocution of prayer is valued above all other arts.
Much of the inspiration for the current work comes from Jerusalem itself, where the overlapping of past and present, ancient and modern is at its very core.
She enacts in her work a unique presentation of sacred Hebrew texts, prayers and spirituals, in an entirely modern context that integrates theatre, music, spoken word and video.

The Hebrew texts Victoria Hanna include in her artistic work are dealing with language and letters as a creative force.
The Order of the Creation of the Embryo ,Song of Songs, the Book of Creation (attributed to Abraham) and the writings of the Rabbi Abraham Aboulafia. Victoria work setting these texts against a modern backdrop; their organic juxtaposition emerging from structures and codes inherent in the texts that are reminiscent of the modern, hi-tech world. Her work also integrates translations and original texts in languages such as English, Persian, Czech, Arabic and Gibberish.

Victoria has participated in major performing arts festivals, received numerous scholarships and artist residencies. She has had cover stories in major newspapers and TV programs internationally and local.
