Boris Malkovsky is an Israeli composer and bayan master. (The bayan is a button accordion.) Debuted for the Tzadik label 2007 with Time Petah-Tiqva and appears as a shining example in its Radical Jewish Culture series of recordings.
Malkovsky melds modern and postmodern compositional techniques, Gypsy and Israeli folk, and improvisational music in a deftly written and gorgeously performed score, Strident tempos, dissonant counterpoint, and real boogie-woogie stride piano lines are converted to string and bayan sprints up and down the minor scale.
Malkovsky has recorded more than 30 albums of jazz, folk and world and performed in major music orchestras in Israel and performed in world music festivals in Europe and Asia.
Boris Malkovsky together with ISCQ were selcted to perform at Womex 2009 showcase in Copenhagen.
