BOMBOLESSÉ
Bombolessé is a 7-piece samba-reggae band that GETS THINKERS DANCING & DANCERS THINKING!
Cuban born leader Julien Álvarez Thomet was raised in Brazil from French & Spanish parents. This bohemian upbringing has marked his music. On top of that, Montreal-Haitian Alix Noël adds a tropical twist to some of the writing. Together they write songs in Portuguese, French, Spanish & Creole with opposite visions of the world.
Dominique Poirier blows her lungs out of her trombone and gets everyone dancing thanks to her Samba possessed feet!
Martin Bonin on percussions recreates his batucada (on the side of Bombolessé, he leads a 25 piece afro-brazilian school called Zuruba) on a concentrated explosive one man band format.
And the other members sweeten the recipe with their brazilianized touch. North & South come together in this band to create a unique sound of samba, reggae, forró, axé, cumbia, etc. it's Ozomatli & Manu Chao meets Sgt Garcia & Bersuit.
Their 8 year experience through more than 300 shows (Jazz Fest, Carnaval do Rio, etc.) in over 10 countries (Europe, North & South America, Mozambique!) has got them to master the art of getting everyone from 4 to 84 years old having fun!
2012/2013 offers tours in Europe, Canada, USA so far.
