CARLOS SARDUY
The Cuban composer & trumpet virtuoso Carlos Sarduy, has impressed the world of music, and so far received

LATIN GRAMMY to “TECHARÍ” with OJOS DE BRUJO [2007]

Carlos Sarduy has worked with a great amount of legendary musicians; Chucho Valdés, Bebo Valdés, David Murray, Steve Coleman, Esperanza Spalding, Terra Mariza, Concha Buika.. It's no wonder. Once you hear his amazing playing, you know you are listening to an extraordinary artist of today.

After more than 50 albums, including 3 outstanding solo albums, Carlos Sarduy is, again, showing his capacities as a composer and arranger on his latest solo album LUZ. Released in 2019, the album presents an elegant, fluent row of Afro Cuban compositions, with beautiful improvisations, that breathes freedom & groove.

Sarduy's good taste prevails. His utterly elaborated arrangements flow naturally from tune to tune, with a warm sound and a beautifully played trumpet, undoubtedly performed by one of the greater trumpet players of our times. Contemporary Afro Cuban Jazz, with polyrhythmic beats of Batá, Rumba and Guarapachangueo, his music also presents elements of Funk, Afro Beat and Mozambican Marrabenta. The album is played by a tight handpicked line up, who flew in to Barcelona from New York, Havana, Berlin and Madrid, and is wonderfully conducted by Sarduy. The notes droppes from his trumpet playing like dust of Gold on any music Sarduy touches. Softly performed at the same time demonstrating control and knowledge that only masters of this level can present, Sarduy's powerful playing is an inspiration to new and old generations of trumpet players and other musicians alike.
