HAROUNA SAMAKE 'Kamale Blues'
Malian musician Harouna Samake, long time Kamale n’goni player for the legendary Salif Keita, is releasing his first solo album. A master of the instrument, and recognised as one of Mali’s foremost Kamale n’goni players, Harouna has a long history of award winning musical collaborations.
Harouna arranged and recorded on five of Salif Keita’s albums, and has recorded on more than 50 albums with artists including Blick Bassy, Djessou Mory Kanté, Etienne Mbappé, Bela Fleck and Bassekou Kouyate.
On the album he plays groovy, energetic Mali Blues & Mandingo styles in complex compositions. His texts on society are song in Bambara with a few French and English lines. Beautifully orchestrated with some of Mali’s top musicians, the music is determined to inspire dance floors and listeners around the world.
The album was recorded and produced by Harouna & Carolina Vallejo, at Harouna’s Studio, Sama Records, in Bamako in March & April 2018.
Released on August 16th 2018 by One World Records.
