The Mozambican saxophonist, Ivan Mazuze, performes with artists like Manu Galo, Omar Sosa, Hermeto Pascual, to namedrop a few.
Educated in Southafrica, he moved to Norway in 2009, and soon established himself as one of Norways top musicians.
He was nominated for nine categories by Mozambique Music Awards 2010 and the debut album "Maganda" , won the following two categories: Best Jazz Album and Best Jazz / Fusion Instrumental Album.T he album was also nominated for Best Contemporary Jazz Album in South African Music Awards 2010 (SAMA), with highly complementary ripple effects in Scandinavian. Mazuze can also refer to other awards, including Best Newcomer and saxophonist at "African Jazz Network" (2010).
Mazuze was selected by Music Export Norway and Trap to represent Norway through quality and a strong artistic expression. His group took part in WOMEX in Copenhagen with a showcase at Global as a result of his concert at by'Larm 2011 in Oslo.
In spring 2011 Mazuze composed new material for his second album, "Ndzuti" , an album that is groove based with an emphasis on older traditional styles from southern and western Africa. "Ndzuti" was launched in March 2012 and the group has been on tour in Norway, in the spring and is going to tour in Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Denmark, Norway and Cuba during 2012.
