Highlighted in the southern Brazilian scenario, Juliana Cortes presents in her CD INVENTO part of her research inspired by composer Vitor Ramil’s book “A Estética do Frio”. Bringing together the picturesque literature and poetry from southern Brazil to a sonority sometimes minimalist, sometimes jazzy, Juliana Cortes gives way to a mystical southern region, so many times visited in experimental and contemporary music, as well as jazz, rock and pop.
The CD was highlighted by Brazilian critics for combining elements from both Argentine/Uruguayan music and the most contemporary and experimental aspects of Brazilian music. The album features 8 songs and contains elaborate musical arrangements and free improvisation, putting the spotlight on the virtuosity of the trio of musicians accompanying the singer, formed by Ronaldo Saggiorato (Electric bass), Luis Otavio Almeida (Electric guitar) and Vina Lacerda (Percussion).
The album has been selected for the Brazilian Music Award, voted the 32nd Best Brazilian Music Album (2013 edition) and placed Juliana Cortes in the ranking of the 20 best singers of the year. (Publication Embrulhador.com – journalist Ed Felix).
