Bilal Irshed

Bilal Irshed is a Palestinian musician who was born in 1981 in Daboryya, a village northern Israel. He started playing the oud at the age of 13 (The oud is a pear-shaped, stringed instrument commonly used in Middle Eastern music), and after completing high school, he moved to Jerusalem to study music at the Academy of Music and Dance.

In 2002 Irshed joined the Arabic Music Orchestra of Nazareth, and toured in neighboring countries and Europe. Irshed performed three times at the National Theater in Paris. After graduating from the university, he taught oud in addition to eastern music theory. Irshed also worked as a music editor for a radio station in Jerusalem.

In 2006 Irshed moved to the island of Zanzibar, where he was employed at the Zanzibari Music Academy as Teacher and Artistic Director. During his stay of almost two years in Zanzibar, he performed in the East African region.

Bilal Irshed moved to Denmark in 2008, where he joined the Middle East Peace Orchestra & Oriental Mood. Bilal performs as a soloist.
