DJ Asif expresses a whole variety of different types of musical styles. Influenced from an early age by traditional Asian music and its rhythms, to learning the guitar and playing in a punk band and then moving on to experiment with hip-hop and electronic music. DJ Asif crafted his sound fusing his Eastern culture with that of the West. The multicultural factor has increased his curiosity with the limitless musical possibilities that can be produced from other cultures in his productions to create new refreshing ideas. Fusing Naked Beats have already supported acts such as Coolio, Leftfield Sound System, Talvin Singh, Blak Twang and many more. Their new 'Fusing Naked Beats' 5 track E.P 'The Crunch E.P' firmly established the band as serious hot new contenders within the Asian underground market, and their current album OUTER PERSPECTIVE is doing really well. Asif has contributed live sessions to the BBC ASIAN NETWORK and is regualrly played on Radio 1 and 1 Xtra. Traaaaaaaacks have been licenced worldwide - especially on the Club Star compilaitons out of germany. Previous album Digital Asia created big waves having had serious airplay on Radio1, BBC Asian Network, and many underground UK and European radio stations.
Both Outer Perspective and 'Digital Asia' are being rinsed big time by Bobby Friction and Nihal on their peak time Radio One show, every week, currently. Having formed Fusing Naked Productions two years ago, Asif has also scored and contributed vocals to many short movies including Another Day, Alma Mater and Red Dakini. Also various film sessions including the British movie "Bollywood Queen". DJ Asif is also a Resident Dj every month at Shaanti. (Award winning for 'Best Asian Underground/Fusion Night) which takes place at the Medicine Bar in Birmingham every last Friday of the month. Their current album Digitl Asia is their best work to date! With a succession of singles and albums under his belt for next year and a distinctive trademark sound, DJ Asif is continually looking for challenges and ways to expand and make his creative mark in the music industry.
