Traditional and ethno music group from Uzbekistan, OXUS was founded in 2002 with the name “Mashriq”. In 2013 the group’s name was changed into OXUS (one of the ancient names of Amu River in Central Asia). The group consists of for professional musicians who have wide music heritage Program of Uzbekistan.
Ingenious arrangements of instrumental timbres are followed by the musicians’ esthetic innovations. They perform various music genres from the regions of Uzbekistan: Bukharian Shashmaqom, Ferghana-
Tashkent maqoms, Khorezm maqoms, and a number of national and folk instrumental music and songs. Sufficient experience of cooperating with Eastern and Western musicians in contemporary music style has been gained by the group members through various festivals and concerts around the globe. Group’s audio album under the name “Samarkand & Beyond” came out in cooperation with ARC music production in 2007.
