Conexion Tango was founded in 2004 by Argentinean musicians based in Barcelona. Since then the group has performed on hundreds of stages throughout Europe, representing the traditional music of their country.
During the last six years Conexion Tango has strived to develop two important aspects that make the tango itself: the music and the dance.
In order to meet the expectations of diverse audiences, the group presents two separate repertoires:
MILONGUERO
This repertoire has been arranged to satisfy the needs of dancers, professional tango dancers or in another words "milongueros".
They emphasize the rhythmic aspects of the selected tangos and its authentic roots that have given the origin to this transcendent combination of music and dance on the banks of the River Plate in the beginning of the twentieth century until about the 1940's.
NEW TANGO
This repertoire is orientated towards the development which the tango music has had throughout the XX. century and its fusion with other styles, principally with the jazz. This way, the group incorporates new harmonic structures and improvisation, without leaving the fundamental basis that builds the tango.
They create a novel and current sound that has allowed to Conexion Tango to take part in festivals, stages and other scenes related to jazz and world music as well.
This repertoire is made of their own compositions, Astor Piazzolla's compositions, and new arrangements of the traditional tangos.
Conexion Tango have performed in several milongas and clubs in Barcelona, Zaragoza and many other cities in Spain and toured in England, France, Germany, Pakistan and Italy.
