Papá Bocó
Papá Bocó, an Afro-Latin sound connection
Papá Bocó emerged in 2008 with an exploration and investigation of traditional Afro-Colombian music (currulao, abozao, porro, among others) and of universal Afro music (salsa, timba, jazz, and funk, among others). From this, we set out to create a sound hybridization that explores new styles and reaches new audiences.
Our influences are: La Mojarra Eléctrica, Bahía Trío, Los Van Van, Irakere, Puerto Candelaria, among others.
After recording several Latin Jazz and fusion singles, we launched our first album in 2016, ¡Baila mi rumba!, with several songs of our own authorship: Mi canoíta, Otra oportunidad, Cuñala (lyrics by Augusto Lozano), Canto negro pa bundiá, and ¡Baila mi rumba!
