One of the musical treasures of London, the Brazilian singer Jandira Silva has just released her debut album, "Festa de Um Sonho Bom." As a passionate exponent of Brazilian music, its rhythmic and melodic beauty, Silva evokes the best of the "MPB" as well as her love of jazz to create something new, combining talent and vocal identity to good taste in repertoire and interpretation.
Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Jandira Silva was resident singer at Casino Estoril in Lisbon, also performing in local jazz clubs and making TV shows in Portugal. She moved to London in 2007 and quickly became part of the thriving Latin / Brazilian scene of the city. Her debut album, with seductive interpretations of Brazilian classics and her own original compositions, confirm Jandira Silva as a rising artist on the Brazilian music made overseas.
Originally inspired by the likes of Elis Regina, Leny Andrade, Tob Jobim and Joyce, Silva was exposed to the great voices of American jazz when she moved to Europe, falling under the spell of Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves and Madeleine Peyroux. It is this jazz tinge that gives her soulful, enthralling music a unique edge and this very special show features her superb band, for what should be a memorable concert.
