Brazilian percussionist, born in Salvador (BA) in 4th January, 1964. Extracting different sounds from the most unexpected objects has been a challenge since childhood. The first stages of his career as a percussionist began in the night musical circuit of Salvador, with Abel Lobo and Jorge Zarath. After that, he joined musical groups from Bahia, such as those of Luiz Caldas; Margareth Menezes & Saul Barbosa; Armandinho, Dodo and Osmar, with whom he animated many carnival feasts.

At the age of 20, he decided to move on to Rio de Janeiro. The first performances in this city happened initially with Carlos Ponta Negra, and then with Zeze Mota. After that, Marco turned himself to instrumental works, playing beside renowned musicians, such as: Leo Gand lman, Marco Pereira, Joao Carlos Assis Brasil, and others.

Soon the requests for playing along major popular artists started to come up: Elba Ramalho, Moraes Moreira, Marisa Monte, Ivan Lins, Lenine, Ana Carolina, Joao Bosco, Titaes, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, Vanessa da Mata, Maria Bethania, Milton Nascimento, among others.

Internationally, integrate since 2006 some projects with the drumer legend Billy Cobham, touring by Europa, Russia, Asia and South America.

His first solo CD was released in 2007 (Alafia). Now with 3 CDs, the percussionist makes his performances in theaters, jazz clubs, festivals, and several cultural spaces in Brazil and worldwide, specially in Germany, besides Trio Elf and the Brazilian saxophonist Marcio Tubino. Marco has also been carrying out workshops and percussion classes in Brazil and worlwide.

In Rio de Janeiro, he was the host musician of Projeto bRatuques in its 2009 and 2010 edition, an important effort to integrate the percussion with multiple tendencies of MPB.
