Sílvia Comes is a versatile artist - she's a singer, composer, guitarist and songwriter all in one. She had a great musician, LLUÍS LLACH, as teacher and toured with him for five years - 1990-1995 - on two different tours ("Un núvol blanc" and "Un pont de mar blava") that led her to stages throughout Spain and many European countries. In 1995, she and LÍDIA PUJOL formed a duet. Together they traveled the country giving concerts and collaborating with artists of such stature as JACKSON BROWNE and PEDRO GUERRA. In 1997, their fist album came out, "Sílvia Comes & Lídia Pujol", and they presented it in over 40 concerts.
Sílvia Comes is not an easy musician to classify. In 1998, for instance, she recorded a song for the Jackson Browne tribute album and collaborated with the band SOPA DE CABRA on three tracks of their album "Nou". While continuing to perform alongside Lídia Pujol, Comes composed, arranged and produced songs for Ester Formosa's album, "La casa solitària" (1999). She was also invited to collaborate with the band SAU on a tribute to CARLES SABATER at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona, a concert that drew 18,000 spectators (1999). In 2000, Comes sang for the soundtrack to the macro-show, "Catalunya 1.000 anys més" ("Catalonia 1,000 Years Longer").
Her second album in collaboration with Lídia Pujol, "Al entierro de una hoja seca van dos caracoles", came out and they started their tour at the Barcelona GREC Festival, subsequently giving over 50 concerts throughout Spain. After nearly two years presenting this album, Comes took a break, not to stop working but in order to branch off into other projects: she recorded her voice for the soundtrack to Stuart Gordon's film, "Dagon" (screened at the Sitges Fantasy Film Festival) and began to feel a fascination for theater... In 2002, she created and presented the show, "Escrit en l'aigua: Luís Cernuda 1902-2002", alongside the actress, MAYTE CABALLERO, which they performed at various theaters and concert halls in different parts of Spain.
When this was over, she went on tour with the show, "Las rosas de papel", based on the poetry of Jaime Gil de Biedma, along with the actor, PEP MUNNÉ. They first performed the show for a season in Barcelona, toured through Catalonia and then performed for a month at the TEATRO MARIA GUERRERO in Madrid. Thereafter they toured Spain, giving over 150 performances. In October 2003, the TEATRE LLIURE of Barcelona organized a tribute to Jacques Brel, in which Sílvia Comes shared the stage with musicians such as LOQUILLO and JOAN MANUEL SERRAT. Nearly a year later, in September of 2004, the TEATRE LLIURE again invited Comes to participate in its program, this time with "12 estimen Gil de Biedma", a tribute to the poet designed and coordinated by Joan Ollé, where Comes shared the stage with PACO IBAÑEZ, JUAN MARSÉ and JAUME SISA, among others.
Over the course of 2004, she created the show, "Van pasando Mujeres", performing once again with the actress Mayte Caballero. The show combined poems and prose by Spanish and Latin American authors. Sílvia sang 7 unpublished songs based on these poems in a profound, heartfelt tribute to women of all times. The show was performed at over 30 venues throughout the Iberian Peninsula. So Sílvia Comes is: tours with Lluis Llach, two albums in collaboration with Lídia Pujol (over 20,000 copies sold), tributes, plays, poetry recitals / performances, etc. etc., and she's always playing on! Only now is she starting her solo career.
With the support of a good band, she recorded "Faro" in 2007, at the Serendipity studios in Madrid; an album in which feelings in the form of songs are interlaced with stories and memories. The poetry of the lyrics blends with the music, making Comes and her songs more personal and well-accompanied than ever. The ten tracks on "Faro" deal with subjects as diverse as fear, adolescence, solitude and lack of communication, and they reflect the poetic influence of all of her previous work. With a 5-musician band led by the renowned pianist, Kyke Serrano, Sílvia Comes has started touring to present her latest album.
