Over the past years Dumbworld has been involved in a range of opera and orchestral productions that have brought professional and non-professional performers together.
While participatory arts stimulate innovative arts practice, models such as these also greatly support issues of audience development, skills training and community engagement.
In this session the panelists will discuss a range of models from large-scale children's oratorios to collaborative community processes, highlighting the benefits, pitfalls and the direction of participatory arts in the classical and art music sector.
The aim of the session is to enable a sharing of knowledge and practices and to enable networking between organisations and individuals who are involved in, or would like to be involved in, making work of this kind.
