Streaming is here to stay – but is it really the final ending point of all development? In a digital environment, where access to recorded music has become incredibly easy and cheap, record labels and start-ups need to find new ways to make music valuable again. The buzzword is ‘curation’, but maybe we need to fundamentally re-think the production and distribution of art music? Creating innovative and transparent formats of music distribution and community engagement beyond streaming will be crucial for the future of art music in the digital space.
The panel features three varied angles on the topic. Steven Walter (artistic director of PODIUM Esslingen, co-founder of HENRY), Till Janczukowics (founder and CEO of IDAGIO), Clemens Trautmann (President of Deutsche Grammophon) and the audience discuss opportunities for new models of music distribution in today’s digital environment.
