The debate on values in the world music community, started at WOMEX 15 and continued around the globe, resulting in a panel session in Rabat, Morocco during Visa for Music 2016, which included approximately 130 professionals, mainly from the African continent and the Arab world. As well as a speech and panel discussion delivered at IndiEarth xChange in Chennai/ India.
The debate continued across many sectors and regional networks including International Council for Traditional Music, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, Traditional Music Forum, SoundWaves Network, LEMON Network.
We invite all activists to this follow-up networking meeting, to develop a ‘Charter of World Music’ as a common ground against xenophobia, racism and nationalism in today’s world – to keep the borders and minds open for music of the world.
