Chineke! Orchestra are a pioneering ensemble that emphasise classical music made and played by Black and Minority Ethnic musicians (BME). Since their 2015 debut, Chineke! Orchestra have offered a needed course-correction for the classical music community, an industry that has historically marginalised certain ethnic groups and classes. Chineke! - which means "the spirit of creation" in Igbo - show that the best groups reflect the diversity of the audiences they hope to attract.

Chi-chi Nwanoku is founder and artistic director of Chineke! Orchestra, and a professor at the Royal Academy of Music. Nwanoku's success with Chineke! Orchestra has led to increasing engagements and accolades, and Chineke! have further added a mentorship program for younger musicians. As the mission expands, Nwanoku has a simple request: "Let us be judged by our music."

Judgement has been rendered: the future is bright for Chineke! Orchestra, and classical music is better for it. The orchestra will be joined by the Doelen Ensemble for the piece by Sarah Kirkland Snider. This collaboration is supported by Codarts.
