Hibridos is an experimental study of current day spiritual cults in Brazil. From the largest Catholic procession in the world to a never before seen indigenous ritual in the Mato Grosso, from healing ceremonies in spiritualist centres to Ayahuasca driven avant-garde rituals in Rio de Janeiro. Mixing tradition and modernity, the project is a result of three years of research around Brazil.
As an invitation to dive into the overall project, which encompasses an archival website, digital albums from recordings of ceremonies, live cinema experiences and more, WOMEX will exclusively present a series of Hibridos short films.

Vincent Moon and Priscilla Telmon have been researching spiritual manifestations all around the world for many years. As independent filmmakers, sound explorers and wanderers, they are currently experimenting with new formats to envision their common work, in an attempt to question our relationship to sound and images.
