Jung Hun Lee will lead the session to establish a network for music markets in Asia. The subject was conceived after the first edition of Jazz in Seoul. The idea is to create an association to build a strong network among the music markets in Asia. To narrow down the widest range of music genres to just ‘world music’, it seems natural that there is WOMEX, the biggest international music market, as well as newly launched music markets around the world. The music markets are increasing, but some of them are not growing in Asia and Oceania.

This session will develop cooperation possibilities between Asia and Oceania to establish a reciprocal market. Kaushik Dutta, artistic director of Kolkata International Music Festival, will present a new event, IMEX; and Patrick De Groote from EFWMF will talk about the importance of regional music markets and strategic planning, and will also talk about his experiences of attending events around the world.
