From Basque Country. Kepa Junkera is the restless champion of the Basque diatonic accordion, the trikitixa. He first emerged on the region’s music scene as a young self-taught prodigy in 1983 and more than thirty years later he remains one of the foremost international ambassadors for the music of the Basque Country with numerous innovative cross border collaborations and over 20 albums to his credit.
His latest project sees him nurturing the next generation in the form of the young female septet of percussionists, singers and dancers known as Sorginak, bringing forth a joyous celebration of the enduring vitality of Basque traditional music.
