“Any society that does not succeed in tapping into the energy and creativity of its youth will be left behind” – former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

It is time to have a conversation with the young innovators and let them take the lead. In seeking the NEXT:Generation of audiences, we should be listening to the NEXT:generation of musicians and music leaders. Who better to understand the NEXT:generation of audiences than their peers?

This session will be lead by three young people, selected by De Doelen, from the Orchestral Artistry Masters programme at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Codarts who are passionate about working in classical music.

How do they feel about the challenges? What ideas do they have? How can we, the current arts leaders, enable them to show the world just how relevant classical music is for the 21st Century?

This session was devised with UK Arts Consultant Jane Williams.
