Niño de Elche is a cantaor, a singer of flamenco, but not as we know it. His references are not Camarón or Morente but contemporary deconstructionists like Blixa Bargeld, Diamanda Galas or Scott Walker. He is a multi-disciplinary artist who combines flamenco singing and toque with performance art, poetry, improvisation, minimalism, singer-songwriting, rock and electronics.

Alongside his own works he collaborates with unclassifiable art creators like philosopher Pedro G. Romero, poet Antonio Orihuela and choreographer Juan Carlos Lérida, as well as experimental Spanish bands like Pony Bravo, José Cicuta or Kiko Veneno.

His 2015 album, Voces del Extremo, is a compilation of texts by contemporary poets belonging to a new social poetry movement called Poesia de la Conciencia, set against brooding electronic soundscapes. El País named it Album of the Year. Dark, provocative, absolutely of now.
