The northern lights will light up London in September: Nordic Music Days 2017 is a happening of new encounters, creativity, and receptiveness; an environment that supports the playful, the inclusive, and the innovative. Across four days, leading ensembles and soloists will showcase pioneering contemporary music from the Nordic countries, including Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Nordic Music Days 2017 will take place at Southbank Centre in London from 28 September to 1 October. It is a part of the Southbank Centre’s Nordic Matters programme – a year of celebration of Nordic culture. The line-up features both electronic and acoustic concerts, plus many professional and public workshops. A conference on new music in the Nordic countries and Britain is arranged in collaboration with Export Music Sweden, the Swedish Embassy and Nordisk Kulturfond.

Distractfold specialises in performing instrumental, electro-acoustic and mixed chamber music of the 21st century. In 2014, the ensemble became the first ever UK artists to win the Kranichstein Prize for Interpretation. Among Distractfold’s performances are KLANG Festival, Copenhagen, NeoArte New Music Festival, Gdańsk, the Experimental Sound Studio, Chicago and Cafe OTO, London.
