The explosion of the internet and democratisation of technology has fuelled a global musical renaissance. Nowhere is this more apparent than in Latin America, where the mashup of European, African and indigenous cultures has always been a landscape ripe for innovation.
Here, classic traditions are returning to the forefront with all of the energy and richness of the countries they represent. Centuries-old music, which before was considered unhip, is being transformed by the new generation and reinvented with raw, unbridled energy. With the internet as megaphone, YouTube and Soundcloud allow creations to be instantly seen and heard around the world with the click of a mouse.
