20 YEARS OF WOMEX - Fanfare Ciocărlia at WOMEX 1997

Today, it's back to WOMEX 1997 – after a fallow year, we headed to Marseille.

As well as African greats Dimi mint Abba (Mauritania) and Cheikh Lô (Senegal) and future WOMEX Award Winner Djivan Gasparyan (Armenia), we were joined by one of the world's hottest brass bands, Fanfare Ciocărlia (Romania). We had 'em 9 years before their cover of 'Born to Be Wild' brought them success via the soundtrack to the film Borat!
