A strong and secure future for classical music requires that higher education and the industry combine their knowledge and collaborate to respectively train and employ musicians who are change agents, ready to meet the present and future challenges of the field.

On 15 May 2019, between 14:00 – 18:30, and open to all delegates, the Higher Music Education Institutions Pre-Conference session seeks to provide the tools, steps and exact methodologies to effect change.

Organised in cooperation with the AEC, core members of the Pre-Conference will include representatives from:

• Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, UK
• USC Thornton School of Music, USA
• Royal College of Music, UK
• New World Symphony, USA
• Royal Conservatoire, The Hague, NL

Additionally, a Higher Music Education Network Meeting will take place during the main conference on 16 May, as well as a conference session entitled "They don't teach you that at the conservatoire? Come Build a 21st c. Conservatoire" chaired by David Bahanovich of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance on 17 May.
