WOMEX CONSULTANCY * AME 2014: Wed, 6 November, is Deadline for Proposals

01-11-2013 (Photo: Jay at AME 2013, by To Gomes): Just back from a busy WOMEX 13 in Cardiff, Wales, UK, and Atlantic Music Expo preparations are already heating up: the first deadline is next week!

This is it, the final call for artists and speakers looking to take part in Atlantic Music Expo in Praia, Cabo Verde, 8-10 April 2014,
bringing together artists and music professionals from the islands, Africa, and both sides of the Atlantic.

Next Wednesday, 6 November 2013, marks the final deadline for Showcase and Conference proposals - be sure to get your proposals in by then!

WOMEX is encouraging the international music community to submit Showcase and Conference proposals and help shape what is fast becoming a staple on the region's cultural calendar.

AME Showcase Festival: From traditional, classical, modern, popular to electronic acts and DJs, AME is open to artists from all music backgrounds. Alongside a line-up of local Cape Verdean artists, proposals from artists from Africa and both sides of the Atlantic will be considered with particular attention. Here's the online application form.

AME Conference: Over 40 international speakers will participate in AME's programme of conferences, speed meetings and workshops to be held at Palacio Da Cultura. Come along and convey your experience and network with new colleagues. Here's the online application form.

The 2013 edition saw more than 500 delegates from over 30 countries descend upon the archipelago's capital, soaking up the vibrant local music scene and ensconcing themselves in around 30 day and night showcases, plus a full conference and a street market. One of the big highlights was an animated African Circuits roundtable debate with Minister of Culture, Mario Lucio Sousa (Cape Verde) and Youssou N'Dour (Senegal), both also musicians in their own right.

Bertrand Dupont (France), Innacor about AME 2013:
"So many great people met, so much music, danse, and human heat! Along with my friends N'Diale from Mali and Brittany, we wish many more waves to AME!"

And from the Washington Post (USA):
"You know you're in Cape Verde, when everything turns into song."

AME is a collective labour of love, initiated by the Ministry of Culture of Cape Verde and produced by Harmonia - label, distribution and event production directed by José da Silva - and WOMEX, the world music expo.

See you in Praia in April!
