Made in Berlin since 1987, piranha womex is an independent creative company which combines music and IT to increase the value of crossing borders, be these musical, political, religious, cultural or commercial.

Our inhouse experts have developed a dynamic portfolio which at present includes international music networking events such as WOMEX (Cardiff 2013) and Classical:NEXT (Vienna in 2013); worldwide consultancies such as Porto Musical (Recife) and AME Atlantic Music Expo (Praia); IT projects such as SyncGlobal, a cooperation with the MP3-inventor Frauenhofer IDMT; and the Piranha Musik label & publishing, introducing new sounds & artists from the world to the world.

WOMEX is the world's biggest professional music Conference, Trade Fair and Showcase Festival for World, Roots, Folk, Ethnic, Traditional, Alternative World, Local and Diaspora music. It is "the principal market for world music" according to France's Le Monde.

WOMEX 13 will be taking place in Cardiff, Wales (UK) from Wednesday, 23, to Sunday, 27 October 2013.

Made in Berlin and travelling in Europe: The 18th edition of WOMEX in Thessaloniki, Greece, in October 2012 saw over 2,200 delegates from more than 90 countries, 600 exhibitors, a full conference programme and a showcase festival presenting 61 acts on 8 stages.

Since its first edition in 1994 WOMEX has been travelling all across Europe from Berlin (1994), via Brussels (1995), Marseille (1997), Stockholm (1998), Berlin (1999 + 2000), Rotterdam (2001), Essen(2002 + 2004), Newcastle (2005), Sevilla (2003 + 2006-2008), Copenhagen (2009-2011) to Thessaloniki (2012).
