AWARD CEREMONY * Roskilde Festival Award to Rokia Traoré's Foundation

(Photo: Richard Dumas) Roskilde Festival World Music Award worth 30,000 euros goes to Rokia Traoré's organisation that works on professionalising the Malian music culture.

Prior to the international world music event WOMEX, Roskilde Festival Charity Society founded the Roskilde Festival World Music Award (RFWMA) worth 30,000 euros.

Now the first winner of the award has been chosen. It is Foundation Passarelle founded by Malian musician Rokia Traoré. An obvious choice, according to Peter Hvalkof who is Roskilde Festival's booker of world music.
